Some answers to your questions

We've answered some questions people usually ask Hermanas. You're always welcome to ask us more!

  1. Is PLC a traditional sorority?

Pi Lambda Chi is not part of the traditional Greek system on campus; instead we are part of the Multicultural Greek Council. Unlike traditional Greek organizations on campus, we do not haze. We also, unlike most traditional Greek organizations, are composed of a much more diverse group of women. Our Founding Madres established Pi Lambda Chi bearing in mind that there did not exist a Greek organization better reflective of CU's student body.

2.  What do the letters stand for?

Our letters P.L.C. stand for Preserving Latina Culture.

3.  Can freshmen pledge? Can seniors pledge?

Yes, both freshmen and seniors are allowed to pledge! Seniors, however, cannot be in their last semester.

4.  Do you have to be Latina to join? Are all the Hermanas Latina?

Not at all! All women are welcome in line with our Founding Madres' wishes, whom never wished to close the doors to anyone as the doors had so often been closed to them. The Hermanas in our sorority reign from different ethnicites, cultures, and backgrounds! We welcome any strong, academically-driven, and goal-oriented woman to join.

5.  Does PLC have a house on the hill?

As we are not a traditional Greek sorority, we do not have a house on the hill. However, many of our Hermanas live together. What can we say... We love being around one another! Also not having a house on the hill allows us to use our funds elswhere like donating a portion to our chapter philanthropy, contributing to the PLC scholarship fund, and sustaining our chapter events for the enjoyment of the campus community.
